Flood Stage Rafting Trip in a canoe

This was awesome!
Jared and I canoed the Platte River June 11, at flood stage. Flood Stage is 9' above the normal level. We moved at 10mph at times (3X the normal speed)! I'm not allowed to tell all the details but I can tell you we slammed into a bridge blocked by floating trees and almost sunk the canoe while hanging onto a tree. Later we navigated through 3-4' waves and witnessed whole trees tumbling down the river beside us. We survived!

We may never know what it's like to adjust from being in the dark confinement of mom's tummy for 9 months and then to all-at-once come out the birth canal into a bright room, loosely held by people running tests on you but this pic gave me a few thoughts.
